Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
Tropical Cyclone Stan lies north of the central Pilbara coast and is tracking
slowly southwards and is expected to move over the coast during Saturday.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong high pressure system lies over the Bight. A surface trough off the
west coast will deepen today, before moving eastwards over the weekend. A
strong ridge will develop from the west in the wake of the trough.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 29 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and northern Interior,
Pilbara, Gascoyne and the Central West. Heavy rain near the east Pilbara coast.
Damaging wind gusts possible near the Pilbara coast. Heavy falls possible over
remaining parts of the western Kimberley and Pilbara.

Forecast for Saturday 30 January
Showers and thunderstorms over most of the State, apart from the southeast
Interior, Eucla and the southeast Goldfields. Heavy rain over central and
eastern parts of the Pilbara. Destructive wind gusts possible near the east
Pilbara coast with damaging winds possible through adjacent inland parts during
the day, depending on the movement and development of the Tropical Cyclone
Stan. Possible heavy falls over remaining parts of the western Kimberley,
Pilbara, Gascoyne and western parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Sunday 31 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, eastern Gascoyne,
central and eastern South West Land Division, the Goldfields and the Eucla.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms over eastern parts of the Pilbara extending
through western parts of the Interior during the day whilst easing in the east
Pilbara by evening. Showers over remaining parts of the South West Land
Division, Gascoyne and Pilbara, easing later in the day.

Forecast for Monday 1 February
Rain and thunderstorms over the Eucla, eastern Goldfields and southern
Interior, contracting southeast out of the state during the day. Showers and
thunderstorms over central Interior and the all but the southwest Kimberley.
Showers over the southwest Kimberley, east Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and the
Interior. Showers over coastal parts of the South West Land Division between
Kalbarri and Israelite Bay.

Forecast for Tuesday 2 February
Showers about the south coast and central parts of the Interior, central and
eastern Pilbara and western Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms about the
northeast Kimberley.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Saturday.
