Western Australia Forecast

Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
Tropical Cyclone Stan lies north of the central Pilbara coast and is tracking
slowly to the southeast and is expected to cross the east Pilbara coast late
Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A surface trough near the west coast will move east during the remainder of
Saturday and during Sunday. A strong high pressure ridge will develop to the
southwest of the State during Sunday and Monday.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 30 January
Showers and thunderstorms over most of the State, apart from the southeast
Interior and Eucla. Heavy rain and Very Destructive wind gusts possible near
the east Pilbara coast with damaging winds possible through adjacent inland
parts, depending on the movement and development of the Tropical Cyclone Stan.
Possible heavy falls over remaining parts of the western Kimberley, Pilbara,
Gascoyne and western parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Sunday 31 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, eastern Gascoyne,
central and eastern South West Land Division, the Goldfields and the Eucla.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms over eastern parts of the Pilbara extending
through western parts of the Interior during the day whilst easing in the east
Pilbara by evening. Showers over remaining parts of the South West Land
Division, Gascoyne and Pilbara, easing later in the day.

Forecast for Monday 1 February
Rain and thunderstorms over the Eucla, eastern Goldfields and southern
Interior, contracting southeast out of the state during the day. Showers and
thunderstorms over central Interior and the Kimberley. Showers and
thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and the Interior.
Showers near the south coast.

Forecast for Tuesday 2 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and northern Interior, the inland
Pilbara and far northern Gascoyne. Showers near the south coast and Eucla coast.

Forecast for Wednesday 3 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara and northern
Gascoyne. Showers over the Eucla and adjacent far southeast Goldfields and
Southeast Coastal district.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Sunday.
