Statement as of 9:10 PM CST on February 14, 2014
...Winter weather possible across the northern and central
Cumberland Plateau...
A cold front will continue to work across the mid state tonight.
Meanwhile...an upper level shortwave will dig across the mid
state overnight. With the deepest moisture still in place across
eastern portions of the mid state...snow accumulations of around an
inch are still possible for the northern and Central Plateau
overnight. For that reason...a Winter Weather Advisory is in
effect for the counties of picket...Overton...Fentress...Putnam
and Cumberland until 6 am CST.
Elsewhere...a chance of light rain and light snow is in the
forecast mainly before midnight. Though only very light snowfall
is possible...and little if any accumulation is expected...sub
freezing temperatures will quickly return to the area overnight.
Temperatures by morning will fall to the 18 to 23 degree range
area wide. For that reason...any residual moisture on the roadways
will freeze and create slick spots on some roadways surfaces.
Please exercise caution while driving on area roadways tonight.

...Light snowfall possible across locations east of Interstate
24 tonight...
A fast-moving cold front will bring rain to middle Tennessee
through the mid evening hours. Once the cold front passes east
of the mid state...temperatures will drop quickly...and the rain
will mix with and then change to all snow before ending after
midnight. Light snowfall accumulations will be possible mainly
for areas east of Interstate 24. Amounts will range from a
dusting to up to one inch possible....with the higher amounts
mainly for locations just west of the upper Cumberland and
southern Cumberland Plateau regions. Amounts around an inch...
with up to two inches possible for the higher elevations from
Jamestown to Monterey...will be possible across the upper
Cumberland region. Snow covered and slick roads may be
possible across this area too...and for locations that do not
receive a lot of snowfall but residual moisture remains on the
roadways...patchy ice may form with some of that ice potentially
being black ice. The potential of snowfall will end across
western portions of this area after midnight with locations
along the Cumberland Plateau region experiencing and end to
snowfall by daybreak. Please exercise caution while driving
on area roadways tonight.
