Special Statement for Gallatin, TN

Special Statement
Statement as of 3:20 AM CST on February 25, 2014

...Light snow possible in middle Tennessee tonight...

Two weather systems will move through the region tonight bringing
a chance for light snowfall. The first system will be an area of low
pressure along the Gulf Coast that will spread moisture northward
across the Gulf coastal states in the overnight hours. The northern
extent of the precipitation will be in the form of light snow that
could reach far southern middle Tennessee...where a light dusting
would be possible.

The second weather system will be a fast moving disturbance in the
northwesterly flow aloft that will move through the mid state
quickly in the overnight bringing a chance for up to one half inch
of snow in the upper Cumberland...with a dusting possible west of
the plateau.

Low temperatures by Wednesday morning will be in the lower to mid
20s area wide. Thus...the development of slick and perhaps snow
covered Road conditions may occur if the snowfall develops. Stay
tuned for further updates.

...Light snow possible across middle Tennessee Tuesday night...

A wave of low pressure in the northwest Gulf will begin to
transport moisture northward and eastward over the next 24 to 36
hours. Meanwhile...a cold dome of high pressure will be moving
southward from Canada toward Tennessee. The combination of these
features will lead to the threat of some light snowfall on
Tuesday night.

For now...it appears that the lower levels of the atmosphere will
be rather dry and the bulk of the precipitation will remain south
of middle TN. However...there is a chance that some of the
precipitation may make it far enough to the north to provide
middle TN with a chance of snowfall.

At this time...only a dusting of snowfall is possible across the
mid state...except along the Cumberland Plateau where accumulations of
up to one half inch may occur.

Low temperatures by Wednesday morning will be in the lower to mid
20s area wide. Thus...the development of slick and perhaps snow
covered Road conditions may occur if the snowfall develops. Stay
tuned for further updates.
