Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
A weak ridge lies over the western parts and will strengthen and move
southwards during Thursday. A broad trough lies over the Kimberley and will
move eastwards later in the week.
Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong cold front will move over the southern parts on Wednesday evening. A
cold unstable airmass moves over southwestern parts late Wednesday before a new
ridge develops over southern parts on Thursday and Friday. A weak cold front
will brush the south coast during Saturday. Another cold front will approach
the southwest corner of the State late on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 17 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, southwest Gascoyne, Goldfields, and
the Eucla. Thunderstorms possible over the southern and western parts of the
South West Land Division and the Eucla. Small hail possible southwest of a line
Perth to Bremer Bay. Windy over the South West Land Division, Gascoyne,
Goldfields, Eucla and South Interior.
Forecast for Thursday 18 August
Early morning showers about the west Pilbara coast. Showers about western and
southern parts of the South West Land division and Eucla. Possible hail south
of Perth to Southern Cross to Israelite Bay, contracting to the southeast coast
in the afternoon. Showers over the eastern Goldfields, Southern Interior and
inland Eucla in the morning with thunderstorms possible over southeastern parts.
Forecast for Friday 19 August
Showers near the south coast and west coast south of Perth, extending to
southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay in the afternoon. Areas of morning
frost over inland parts of the South West Land Division, the Goldfields and
adjacent Gascoyne.
Forecast for Saturday 20 August
Showers southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Eyre, clearing inland parts during
the evening. Areas of morning frost over northeastern parts of the South West
Land Division, the Goldfields and far south Interior.
Forecast for Sunday 21 August
Morning showers over coastal parts east of Ravensthorpe. Afternoon showers
possible in the northeastern Kimberley and northeast Interior. Showers
southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Albany, becoming more widespread during the
afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms. Isolated showers extending to
southwest of a line Shark Bay to Bremer Bay during the afternoon and evening.
Areas of morning frost over inland parts of the South West Land Division and
the adjacent Goldfields.
