Western Australia Forecast

Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
A trough and associated rain band lies through the Kimberley and will slowly
weaken by Wednesday morning. A new low pressure trough will develop over the
Pilbara late on Wednesday. Another weak rain band will develop over the Pilbara
and southern Kimberley late Wednesday into Thursday.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A cold front will reach the southwest corner early on Wednesday and weaken as
it moves eastwards through the South West Land Division during the day. A
surface trough will develop ahead of the front through the Goldfields with
possible afternoon thunderstorms. A new ridge of high pressure will develop in
the wake of the front with another weak cold front brushing the southwest of
the State late Friday.

Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 30 August
Rain areas over the Kimberley, easing. Showers developing over areas southwest
of a line Perth to Albany during the evening.

Forecast for Wednesday 31 August
Showers southwest of a line Carnarvon to Israelite Bay, extending east across
the Goldfields, Eucla and southern Interior during the afternoon and evening
while clearing western parts. The chance of thunderstorms over western and
southern parts of the South West Land Division, the eastern Goldfields, Eucla
and southern Interior.
The chance of showers over the Kimberley and North Interior. Areas of rain
developing about the coastal Pilbara.

Forecast for Thursday 1 September
Showers over southern coastal districts, southern Goldfields, Eucla and
adjacent Interior, contracting to southern coastal parts during the day.
Possible morning thunderstorms about the Eucla and southeast Interior.
Rain over the eastern Pilbara, northern Interior and southern Kimberley,
gradually clearing.

Forecast for Friday 2 September
Showers southwest of a line Perth to Albany, extending along southern coastal
parts during the day. Showers possible over the southern Goldfields and near
the Eucla coast.

Forecast for Saturday 3 September
Mostly morning showers along the southern and Eucla coasts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Wednesday.
