Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
A tropical low is expected to develop off the northwest Kimberley coast over
the next few days then move southwest towards the Pilbara coast over the
weekend. Heavy rainfall possible in the north Kimberley for the next few days,
with heavy falls and strengthening winds in coastal parts of the east Pilbara
and west Kimberley over the weekend. Weather across the state by Monday will
depend on the location and development of the tropical low.
Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep trough lies through central parts of the state and will lie from the
northwest to the southeast of the state on Friday. A weak cold front will brush
the south coast on Friday producing some light showers that will clear the
eastern south coast early on Saturday. A ridge of high pressure will develop
south of the state on Saturday, with a high forming in the Bight on Sunday as a
trough deepens inland from the west coast.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 27 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley with moderate to heavy falls
possible in the north. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the central
Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, northeast Goldfields, Interior and the northeast
Eucla. Showers near the south coast.
Forecast for Saturday 28 December
Showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of the state with heavy
falls and windy conditions possible in the coastal Kimberley. Early morning
showers near the eastern south coast.
Forecast for Sunday 29 December
Showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of the state, extending into
the southern Gascoyne, Goldfields, and eastern SW Land Division in the
afternoon and evening. Heavy falls and windy conditions possible in the near
the eastern Pilbara and western Kimberley coasts. Evening showers near the
western south coast.
Forecast for Monday 30 December
Showers and thunderstorms across most of the state northeast of a line from
Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay. Very windy with rain and heavy falls possible in the
Pilbara.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
