Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Christine will move through the inland Pilbara today,
producing heavy rainfall and destructive wind gusts before it moves southeast
and gradually weakens.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure system lies in the Bight with a trough deepening through
central parts of the state. Tropical Cyclone Christine will move into the
eastern Gascoyne this afternoon and into the northern Goldfields and western
Interior overnight, bringing heavy rainfall and damaging winds to these parts.
The remnants of Christine will result in heavy rainfall and gusty winds through
the Eucla and southern Interior during Wednesday, before contracting to the
southeast parts of the state early on Thursday. Weak cold fronts will brush the
western south coast Tuesday evening, and again Thursday afternoon. A ridge of
high pressure will develop along the south coast during Friday.

Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 31 December
Showers and thunderstorms across most of the state away from the west coast.
Very windy with rain and heavy falls possible in the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and
adjacent Interior. Patchy drizzle about the Southwest district during the
afternoon and evening, extending to adjacent parts of the South Coastal
district in the evening.

Forecast for Wednesday 1 January
Showers and thunderstorms over central and eastern parts of the state with some
rain areas, squally winds and possible heavy falls over the inland Pilbara,
Goldfields, Eucla, southern Interior and the adjacent Gascoyne. Isolated light
morning showers about coastal parts between Kalbarri and Albany.

Forecast for Thursday 2 January
Rain areas with thunderstorms over the eastern Eucla and adjacent Interior
clearing during the day. Showers and thunderstorms for the central and eastern
Kimberley and northern Interior, mainly during the afternoon and evening.
Afternoon showers possible in the eastern parts of the SW Land Division and the
adjacent Goldfields and Gascoyne. Showers for the Southwest and the adjacent
Lower West and South Coastal districts for a period during the day.

Forecast for Friday 3 January
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, extending to the inland Pilbara,
northern Interior, and inland Gascoyne during the afternoon and evening.
Morning showers near the south coast west of Eyre.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Tuesday.
