Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
A tropical low currently well to the northwest of Broome is expected to develop
into a tropical cyclone later today and move southwest towards the Pilbara
coast over the weekend and early next week. Heavy rainfall is possible about
the north and west Kimberley over the weekend, extending into the Pilbara on
Monday and Tuesday. Weather across the state by Tuesday will depend on the
location and development of the tropical low.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep trough lies from the western Pilbara to the central Interior. A ridge of
high pressure is developing along the south coast, with a high forming in the
Bight on Sunday as a trough deepens inland from the west coast.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 28 December
Showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of the state, tending to
rain and storms with possible heavy falls and windy conditions in the north and
west Kimberley. Early morning showers near the eastern south coast.

Forecast for Sunday 29 December
Showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of the state, southern
Gascoyne, Goldfields and west Interior, tending to rain and storms in the
eastern Pilbara and west Kimberley where heavy falls and windy conditions are
possible. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the western Eucla and eastern
SW Land Division.

Forecast for Monday 30 December
Showers and thunderstorms across most of the state northeast of a line from
Carnarvon to Esperance. Very windy with rain and heavy falls possible in the
Pilbara and west coastal Kimberley.

Forecast for Tuesday 31 December
Showers and thunderstorms across most of the state away from the west coast.
Very windy with rain and heavy falls possible in the Pilbara and Gascoyne.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
