Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
A trough of low pressure extends south from the eastern Pilbara through to the
Eucla, while the Kimberley lies under a broad monsoonal flow. The trough will
contract eastwards into the northern Interior on Wednesday while the monsoon
flow weakens over the north of the State.
Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A surface trough over the Eucla will contract eastwards this evening and on
Wednesday, with a deep low pressure system moving south of the state. A weak
ridge of high pressure will develop over the south of the state on Thursday,
with a weak cold front forecast to brush the southwest of the state early
Friday. A weak ridge of high pressure will develop in the wake of the front on
Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 27 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, eastern Pilbara and
Eucla, gradually contracting northwards in southern parts during this afternoon
and evening.
Cool and showery over southern parts of the South West Land Division and
southern Goldfields with gusty winds and thunderstorms possible near the south
coast. Showers contracting to near coastal parts in the late afternoon and
evening.
Forecast for Wednesday 28 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent Pilbara and northeast
Interior.
Showers over southern parts of the South West Land Division and the southern
Goldfields, contracting to coastal parts in the afternoon.
Forecast for Thursday 29 December
Showers near the south coast, mostly morning.
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent Pilbara and the north
Interior.
Forecast for Friday 30 December
Showers about the South West district and adjacent parts, contracting to
southern coastal parts in the afternoon.
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent Pilbara and northern
Interior.
Forecast for Saturday 31 December
Showers about coastal parts of the South and Southeast Coastal districts,
clearing during the morning.
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent Pilbara and Interior.
