Statement as of 12:33 AM CDT on September 26, 2013
...Locally dense fog will occur over parts of the mid state
early this morning...
Areas of fog will continue to thicken throughout the pre dawn
hours...becoming locally dense...and significantly reducing
visibilities in some spots. This will be especially true in areas west
of the upper Cumberland...where skies have cleared. If you plan to
be out on the roads this morning...you can expect driving
visibilities to vary widely...ranging from very good in areas
without fog...to very poor where the fog has become dense. Be
aware...that driving visibilities can change quickly...and at
times may be reduced to just a matter of a few hundred feet.
The first places to see the fog thicken will be near rivers and
lakes...and in valley areas. This fog may spread into other more
widespread areas by sunrise.
While driving...be sure to leave enough braking distance between you
and the vehicle in front of you...use low beam headlights...and watch
for pedestrians who might be crossing the Road or standing near
the curb. As sunrise approaches...be especially careful to watch
for school children. Also...keep an eye on Road shoulders for
Deer...that may be roaming nearby...and may...at any time...dash
unexpectedly across the Road.
The fog is expected to dissipate by 9 am.
