Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Quang lies to the north of the west Pilbara coast. The
system is moving in a southeasterly direction and is expected to weaken during
Friday as it approaches the west Pilbara and northern Gascoyne coast.
Freshening east to northeasterly winds during Friday, particularly over
northwestern parts as the weakening Tropical Cyclone approaches.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak ridge of high pressure will develop over the far south of the State in
the wake of a cold front brushing the south coast during the remainder of
Friday. A second cold front will reach the southwest of the state during Sunday
with another ridge of high pressure developing over southern districts during
the early part of the new week.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 1 May
Showers and thunderstorms over the central and western Pilbara and the northern
and western Gascoyne increasing to rain in the northwest Pilbara and the
adjacent Gascoyne with squally winds and moderate to heavy falls possible later
in the day. Showers over the southern Goldfields, Eucla and coastal parts of
the South West Land Division contracting eastwards during the day and clearing
by evening.

Forecast for Saturday 2 May
Rain areas and thunderstorms over the northwest Gascoyne and western Pilbara
with some heavy falls possible. Showers over the remaining northern Gascoyne
and the Goldfields, extending to northern and eastern parts of the South West
Land Division during the day.

Forecast for Sunday 3 May
Showers or rain areas over western and southern parts of the State, with
thunderstorms possible near the southwest Capes and western south coast.

Forecast for Monday 4 May
Patchy rain over eastern parts of the Pilbara, southwest Interior and the
eastern Eucla, easing in the evening.
Mainly coastal showers over the Lower West district, Southwest district and
along the south coast and Eucla coast.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
