The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued an
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Davidson County in middle Tennessee...
this includes the city of Nashville...
southeastern Robertson County in middle Tennessee...
Sumner County in middle Tennessee...
* until 730 PM CDT
* at 526 PM CDT...heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms were continuing
over parts of the advisory area. Doppler radar estimates that between one
and two inches of rainfall have occurred in some spots...and any additional
rain will lead to rapid runoff and ponding of water in low lying areas. In
addition...some area creeks and streams are running high and additional heavy
downpours may result in localized flooding.
Areas between Millersville and Madison....including the Rivergate area...
have received a number of showers with heavy downpours this afternoon and
will be especially vulnerable to ponding of water...and localized flooding.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* a portion of middle Tennessee...including the following
counties...Bedford...Cannon...Cheatham...Clay...Coffee...
Cumberland...Davidson...De Kalb...Fentress...Giles...Grundy...
Jackson...Lawrence...Macon...Marshall...Maury...Overton...
Pickett...Putnam...Robertson...Rutherford...Smith...Sumner...
Trousdale...Van Buren...Warren...white...Williamson and
Wilson.
* Through Sunday morning
* a deep southerly flow of tropical moisture combined with an
unusually strong upper level low will bring several more rounds
of showers and thunderstorms through Sunday.
* Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher
amounts are possible over the weekend. Storm total rainfall over
the 5-day period from Wednesday July 3rd through Sunday July 7th
may reach 4 to 10 inches in some locations.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
