Western Australia Forecast

Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
A tropical low lies northwest of Exmouth and will continue moving west
southwest away from the mainland. Please refer to
http://www.bom.gov.au/cyclone/ for the latest information.

Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure lies south of the state with a trough near the west
coast. A weak front should brush the western south coast tomorrow with the
ridge redeveloping south of the state in its wake. A cloud band of tropical
origins is likely to develop over the southwest of the State on Sunday and
remain stationary into the start of next week.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 28 January
Showers and thunderstorms in all but the southwest corner of the state. Gusty
storms in the Pilbara and in the South West Land Division north of Perth, with
possibly damaging winds in the Central Wheat Belt and adjacent Central West and
adjacent Gascoyne. Damaging winds also in the far west of the Pilbara (near
Exmouth) associated with the tropical low.

Forecast for Sunday 29 January
Showers and thunderstorms throughout, tending to rain in a band across the
Lower West, Central Wheat Belt and Southeast Coastal and adjacent parts. Heavy
falls possible at times in the band. Heavy falls and gusty winds possible with
thunderstorms just north of the band.

Forecast for Monday 30 January
Showers and thunderstorms throughout apart from in southern parts of the
Southwest. Showers tending to rain in a band across the Lower West, southwest
Central Wheat Belt, northeast Great Southern and Southeast Coastal. Heavy falls
possible in the rain band, particularly the western half.

Forecast for Tuesday 31 January
Showers and thunderstorms in northern and central parts. Rain and the chance of
thunderstorm in the southern half apart from the southwestern Southwest, rain
easing from the west.

Forecast for Wednesday 1 February
Showers and thunderstorms throughout apart from along the west coast and
southwest of Perth to Esperance.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Sunday.
