Tennessee today and tonight...
...Isolated severe thunderstorms may produce brief tornadoes...
The remnants of former hurricane storm Isaac will move across middle
Tennessee today and tonight...and produce the potential for
isolated severe thunderstorms. Some storms may produce damaging
straight line winds...and possibly brief tornadoes...that may
spin up quickly with little or no advance warning.
In addition...you can expect thunderstorms to produce locally
heavy downpours...which may cause ponding of water and localized
flooding.
Tropical weather systems...like the one crossing middle Tennessee
today and tonight...are notorious for their ability to produce brief
funnel clouds and even tornadoes. Therefore...if thunderstorms
move through your area...you should keep an eye on the sky and
stay tuned to a reliable source of weather information in the
event that a Storm Warning is issued for your area. In
addition...if you observe any severe weather...like a funnel
cloud...tornado...or flooding...be sure and relay that information
to the National Weather Service in Nashville or to your local law
enforcement agency.
