...A warm April...

Nashville experienced a warm month of April...with the average
temperature of 62.8 degrees being 4.3 degrees above normal.
The warmest temperature was 87 on the 5th and 6th...while the
coldest was 37 degrees on the 9th and 10th. There was not a freeze
during the month...and dating back to March 7th...it was the
earliest last freeze in Nashville since March 5th 1927. Total
precipitation was 3.48 inches...which is 0.45 inch below normal.

Crossville averaged 59.4 degrees for the month...4.2 degrees above
normal. There was not a freeze dring the month...and dating back to
March 7th...Crossville experienced their earliest last freeze since
records began in 1954. The warmest temperature was 83 degrees on the
5th and 6th....while the coldest was 34 on the 10th. Total
precipitation was 3.22 inches...which is 1.38 inches below normal.

Clarksville averaged 61.5 degrees for the month and tabulated 2.54
inches of precipitation. The warmest temperature was 86 degrees on
the 5th...and the coldest was 34 on the 9th.

There was one significant weather event in what was a relatively
calm month of April. On the 24th...severe weather and heavy rains
were quite widespread. EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed in
Perry...Humphreys and Hickman counties. An EF-0 tornado occurred in
Macon County. Two and a half to three inches plus rains were
measured in Davidson...Williamson...Sumner and Wilson counties. 

The National Weather Service would like to apologize for the belated
nature of this message...but needless to say...the recent flooding
as taken taken precedence.
